Right now we're parked at Painted Rocks BLM in Arizona with red-tinged mountains surrounding us on all sides.
Cactus plants stretch up on the barren hills and low sage brush covers the valleys. The soil here is rich with history as Native Americans have left a trail of petroglyphs, and stagecoach trails once crept through this valley.
Today we took a trip to the desert to find several types of cactus plants that have captured our attention. One has red blossoming flowers, the other furry white ends, and lastly the traditional green cactus with arms that stretch and point every which way.
The dogs enjoyed romping around with us though poor Ginger got a thorn on top of her paw. We have to do paw checks every time we get back in the truck.
Sam and I walked up a small distance of one of the mountains to get a close up of the cactus. A large wash was in the way and Ginger had some difficulty with the steep cliffs. Fortunately, Kim found an easier way down, and soon Ginger's herd was reunited.
We woke up this morning to a beautiful sunrise
and went to bed last night to the setting sun with a magnificent reddish glow.
This place is just incredible and I have to say, one of my favorite places on the entire trip!
